Principal's Update - Fri 10/9/21

Dear parents, caregivers and students,

I am writing today to outline some of the key planning information for Term 4, 2021. There are a number of important events that I would like to outline for you now with a view to presenting much more detail next week.

School Development Day (SDD)

We have previously scheduled our SHS SDD for Monday 8th November. This day is now expected to be the day where our junior students return to face-to-face instruction. To ensure that we are ready to begin learning on site, we will move our SDD to Tuesday 5th October. There will be no remote learning (or onsite learning for any students) on this day as teachers will be fulfilling their mandatory training requirements.

Senior students

The official last day of online classes for senior students is Friday 17th September. The period from Monday 25th of October until Friday 5th November will see the return of onsite learning for many HSC subjects. A roster outlining the detail of this return will be sent to students and families next week. The revised HSC timetable has been released and can be found on the link below.

Junior Students

The NSW Government has announced that Monday 8th November will see the return of junior students. There have been further qualifications to this announcement that may see an earlier return – or, indeed, delay the return. I will keep you informed on how this return to face-to-face learning will occur. There will be many precautions and requirements that will be necessary to ensure that we are as COVID safe as possible. I will provide the detail of this process in the coming weeks.

I am sure that our Springwood High School community will appreciate that our planning is occurring in the context of rapidly changing circumstances and updated announcements. I will aim to give you as much clarity as I can – but it is very much a dynamic situation. As ever, on behalf our Springwood High School staff, I wish you safety and health. I will have further information to share with you early next week.

Kind regards,

Stuart Harvie

Principal (Rel.)
