Dtiatti Leadership Group

In 2020 Springwood High School launched the Dtiatti, (Dee R Tee), Leadership Group. This group is made up of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families and caregivers, the local community and a group of dedicated teachers. The objective of the Dtiatti Leadership Group is to provide support for all members and to encourage involvement in cultural and leadership opportunities. We also aim to acknowledge and inform the school community of the rich contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made to Australian society.

As part of this initiative, an Aboriginal Education Officer has been engaged. Mrs Shaalee Stubbs is a proud Darug woman from the Boorooberongal people and she joins us from Chifley College, Mount Druitt Campus, where she has been active in the promotion of Aboriginal culture and the development of enrichment programs for all students.

Shaalee is available throughout the week and she can be found in the Dtiatti Room in Jackson Block.

Through Dtiatti’s programs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will have access to enrichment programs in culture, dance, language etc, from a range of community groups and through the guidance of the Elders of the community. They have access to programs, such as Pathways to Dreaming, which provide students with an understanding of post-school options and scholarship opportunities.

Dtiatti aims to build community within the school and create links with the community. If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, please ensure that you have included this information in your enrolment forms or contact the school office.

Please look out for our notifications on the school Facebook page and webpage.
