Dtiatti Leadership Group

The Dtiatti Leadership Group was established at Springwood High School in 2020. This group is made up of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families and caregivers, the local community, and a group of dedicated teachers.

Dtiatti's objectives

Dtiatti (dee-ar-tee) aims to build community and create links with the community while providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to learn about and be immersed in culture.

Support and involvement
A key objective of the Dtiatti Leadership Group is to provide support for all members and to encourage involvement in cultural and leadership opportunities.
Acknowledge and inform
Dtiatti aims to acknowledge and inform the school community of the rich contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made to Australian society.
Enrichment and opportunity
Through Dtiatti’s programs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will have access to enrichment programs in cultural practices, dance, and language, from a range of community groups and through the guidance of the Elders of the community.
Future focused
Dtiatti members will have access to programs, such as Pathways to Dreaming, which provides students with an understanding of post-school options and scholarship opportunities.
Community
The Dtiatti Leadership group will foster a sense of connection for students both within Springwood High School and the wider community.

Aboriginal Education Officer

As part of the Ditatti Leadership Group initiative, students at Springwood High School have the support of an Aboriginal Education Officer, Mrs Shaalee Stubbs.

Shaalee is a proud Darug woman from the Boorooberongal people and she joins us from Chifley College, Mount Druitt Campus, where she was active in the promotion of Aboriginal culture and the development of enrichment programs for all students.

Shaalee has continued this important work at Springwood High School. She is available throughout the week and can be found in the Dtiatti Room in Blue Block.
