Dtiatti Mural

Mural

Dtiatti students from Years 7-12 joined Jason and Trevor from Dalmarri Art to create a mural for the entrance to the school. Students had participated in planning in the lead up to Dalmarri’s arrival, coming up with the theme of Warami-Welcome. The mural features the Magpie (Wibung) in the centre of the mural, voted by our students of an animal of significance to represent our Springwood High School community. Fulfilling the desire to make students from our feeder school feel connected to our community, Faulconbridge Public School are represented by the glossy black cockatoo, Hazelbrook Public School by the blue neck lizard, Springwood Public School P&C by the red crested toadlet and Lawson Public School by the Bidjiwong. These have all been incorporated into the mural with connection pathways to the Springwood HS community. Also featured on the mural are meeting places and pathways, representing our broader community. Pathways lead out from the Magpie in Springwood High colours and represent the knowledge spreading forth from the school into the surrounding community. Each student who participated in the workshop is represented by their own individual handprint and name. Ms Fineran, Ms Bigland, Mrs Stubbs, Mr Shepherd and Mr Harvie are also represented as the nurturers of the students. Images from local rock art, a kangaroo, emu and sailing ship are also represented. A river, representing the waterways of the Blue Mountains, runs through the mural on a background of sandstone colours.
Please take the time to view the mural as you enter the school.
